What does a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter offer you? First, you get the benefit of pure sine wave conversion, which offers a more high quality wave form with less harmonic distortion than that of modified sine wave inverters. A pure sine wave power source is crucial for running sensitive equipment like computers, laptops, printers, most power tools and pretty much any equipment using microprocessing.
Next, you can run a wide variety of electrical equipment from a 2000W inverter. Televisions, DVD players, fridges, fans, appliances like electric kettles, vacuum cleaners, small power tools, fans and lights are all a perfect match for a 2000W pure sine wave inverter. Some people even run small air conditioners.
It is no wonder then that the 2000W range of inverters are very popular for use in boats, trucks and RVs, as they provide enough power to run a number of essential electrical components at the same time.

The Top Four 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverters
Let’s look at 4 of the most popular and reliable models on the market, in descending order of price-range.
Magnum MS2012 2000W Inverter
The Magnum MS2012 is a USA-built pure sine wave inverter with a 100A Power Factor Corrected charger. It hovers on the higher scale of pricing, but for your money you get a powerful inverter from one of the most respected brands in the industry.
In standby the unit draws around 25W, or 5W – 7W in search mode. With versatile mounting options (upside down is possible, along with the usual shelf or bulkhead mounting) you won’t have problems finding a nice spot for the MS2012 to work its magic. The unit offers flash programming for updates, and a user-friendly design featuring 360 degree connection terminals with covers and easily accessible switches.
Installation can be done through a four step process, but I’d recommend professional installation for this model.
The DC input/outputs are quite close together. Shorting the cables during installation is possible, so you need to take care with that. In contrast though, the A/C input and output connections use full sized screw blocks, making wiring much easier.

The MS2012 provides rock solid voltage and frequencies, even when pushed to its max rating. One drawback is that you’ll probably need to purchase the remote control for this unit if you want to properly program the voltage for charging your batteries. With the remote coming in at around $180, the expense starts adding up, with the inverter itself being $1000 plus already.
However, the Magnum MS2012 provides serious performance and reliability and can’t be recommended highly enough. Having been built in the USA is a big plus as well. Sock it to Xi Jinping, yeah.

Go Power! GP-SW2000-12 2000-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter
The GP-SW2000 is a robust, mid-price range pure sine wave inverter. It offers 2000W continuous and 4000W surge, making it suitable even for equipment and appliances with a high draw load on startup. Protections include over voltage, under voltage and overload.
Safety is a prime concern, and the Go Power! features two GFCI protected outlets. Dual cooling fans are present to help keep the GP-SW2000 cool even under high load. A deep cycle battery setup is highly recommended to get the most out of this unit.
This inverter also comes in above the $1000 mark, and is a solid choice. You’d do well to buy the remote switch as well, which costs around $80. Well-built with a two year warranty and comprehensive built-in protections, this is worth your consideration. A digital display would have been nice though. That and a gold toilet seat, I guess.
As with the 3000 watt model I looked at in my 3000w sine wave inverter post, I simply love the yellow and black colour scheme on this, but that of course does not really figure into how well it functions or not, and is of course subject to personal preference anyway. Still, nice looking piece of kit.

Xantrex PROWatt 2000 Inverter
Xantrex has a very good reputation, and the PROWatt 2000 pure sine wave inverter won’t do that reputation any harm. For a start, this is a very affordable inverter, coming in at the $400 price range. It is a 120 VAC system rated at a continuous pure sine wave output of 1800W.
So, it falls a little short of a true 2000W unit, but it’s still worth a look in this segment. The 3000W surge peak is also lower than some other models, so make sure this is enough to handle the startup surge of any equipment you want to run off it before buying.
This is a perfect unit to use in RVs, trucks and also marine applications. It will be sufficient to power smaller and low power appliances like microwaves, printers, televisions and satellite receivers. It features a built-in USB port that should charge up or provide power to most USB devices.
The unit has overload protection to prevent damage, as well as dual GFCI AC sockets. A built-in digital display for output power and DC volts is another quality feature.
As far as pure sine wave inverters at an affordable price goes, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better unit than the Xantrex PROWatt 2000. It falls a little short of the 2000W mark and you’ll need a robust system of batteries, wiring and connections to get the maximum use out of it. Therefore, professional installation and setup is a must, otherwise you’re going to struggle to get all the juice on offer out of this product.
Remote switches are also available for this model at around $20, which is well worth considering, and is also a lower cost add-on than the remote switches for the models above. For the price, this product is hard to beat, but be aware of the slightly lower power peaks than other 2000W units.

Renogy 12V DC 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter
The Renogy is one of the more popular 2000W pure sine wave inverter models around. It offers a 4000W peak to help handle the starting surge power demands of appliances and equipment and is optimized for systems feeding 12V DC.
This 2000w sine wave inverter acts as a DC to AC converter that allows you to power your household appliances, whether you are going off-grid at your house, cabin or camper van/RV.
Being pure sine wave, the inverter produces smooth and reliable electricity to run power tools, lights, and appliances safely and with virtually no interference.
The inverter offers both low and over voltage protection, with overload protection for the DC input and AC output to protect the guts of the unit. The peak surge of 4000w is ample and leaves lots of headroom. There is ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protection, over-tempereature protection and ventilation fans helping to keep the unit cool. LED lights alert you to any imminent meltdowns.
A 5V/2.1A USB port, AC hardwire port and three AC sockets complete an otherwise impressive package, at a price very decent to the wallet. A pair of 3 ft 4 AWG cables and a 16 ft wired remote comes included, making a nice change from the models above where you have to purchase the remote seperately.
The Renogy pure sine wave unit does seem to provide a pretty good deal, and the reliability of the unit is above average. Not a bad investment for the price, although the pricier models will maybe beat it on performance/longevity in the long run. That being said, it is getting good reviews on Amazon, as does its bigger 3000w brother I looked at in another post.

Final Thoughts
While the Magnum MS2012 and Go Power! SW-2000 is vying for the top spot, their rather stiff price tags may not be affordable to everyone, but they sure are good pieces of kit.
The Xantrex makes for a good middle ground option coming in at less than half a G, with the Renogy inverter being a decent entry level 2000W inverter hovering in the budget price range.
